SUPPORTING GIRLS IN … EVERYTHING

The stars aligned, and this week I am focused on all things GIRLS.

Last night, I had the opportunity to attend an event for the INVEST IN GIRLS program hosted by the OK Council on Economic Education. The Invest in Girls program is designed to teach high school girls financial concepts, connect them to professional women role models and spark their interest in financial service careers, populating the pipeline with girls where women continue to be underrepresented.

Today, I will attend a POLISHED OKC luncheon featuring Deanne Brodie Mends, who uses her writing and poetry to raise awareness for a variety of issues near and dear to her heart – such as Dragonfly Home and Operation Underground Railroad, both of which focus on putting an end to human trafficking. 

Thursday, I am attending the JULIETTE LOW LEADERSHIP SOCIETY annual luncheon held by the Girl Scouts of Western Oklahoma. The keynote speaker is Debbie Sterling, Founder and CEO of GoldieBlox – the award-winning children’s multimedia company known for disrupting the pink aisle in toy stores globally and challenging gender stereotypes with the world’s first girl engineer character. Debbie is an engineer, entrepreneur, spokesperson, and one of the leaders in the movement toward getting girls interested in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math). 

I love exploring ways for my students to get involved, feed their passions, and grow their skills. Each adventure provides me with new ideas for guiding students. No two students are alike, and my approach to college admissions reflects that. I am definitely here to help!
