THINGS TO DO WHILE WAITING FOR COLLEGE ADMISSION DECISIONS
All of the applications have been submitted and now your student may be feeling anxious as he/she waits for admission decisions. There is no way to speed up the process, but there are some things students can do while they wait:
🔴 Stay Confident
Don’t second guess the things you included in your application. Be confident in the application and essays you submitted. Know that if you are supposed to attend one of these colleges, you will receive an acceptance letter.
🔴 Don’t Catch Senioritis
Keep up the good work. Don’t let your grades slip as you are waiting for college decisions. Even if you do receive an acceptance letter, a college can rescind its decision if you let your grades slip.
🔴 Check your individual college portals
Admissions and financial aid offices may need more information before sending out admission decisions or financial aid awards. Make sure to check your portal regularly and be quick to upload any requested information.
🔴 Watch your Mail and Email
Ditto for mail and email! Regularly check all the ways that colleges may attempt to contact you!
🔴 Apply for Financial Aid
If you have not done so already, make sure you submit your FAFSA and/or CSS Profile.
🔴 Apply for Scholarships
Lots of outside scholarships are still open. Set aside a little bit of time every week to research and apply for available scholarships.
🔴 Enjoy Senior Year
The end of your high school career is near! Take some time to really enjoy these final months.
🔴 Be Positive
Every college has a different timeline. Waiting is tough, but don’t let it get you down.
