COMMON APP IS OPEN!
For the Class of 2023, the season of college admissions has officially begun. Yesterday, the Common Application – also known as the Common App – opened. And using this time before school starts is ideal for addressing the basics. For instance:
🔹 Go to CommonApp.org and click on the “Start your application” button to get details about how to create an account and log in.
🔹 Choose the first-year student option.
🔹 Add the general information such as name, email, phone number, address, date of birth and prospective enrollment year.
🔹 Continue with the profile section, providing details pertaining to education, extracurriculars, honors, demographic data, household information, etc.
🔹 Add collaborators such as teachers, school counselors and others (coaches, pastors, employers) providing letters of recommendation or other supporting documents.
Now, if you have time:
🔹 Search for and add schools to “My Colleges.”
🔹 Get familiar with each college’s application requirements.
Common App is designed to make it easier to apply to multiple colleges, but that doesn’t mean you will be ready to submit your first application today. First, you’ll need to take some time to draft your Personal Essay. Then you’ll need to check the requirements for each college on your list, as many will require supplemental essays and additional information. And don’t forget to track those deadlines!
