I usually try to share some of my motherly advice each year in honor of Mother’s Day. As the mother of three children – ages 26, 24, and 20 – I feel like most of my heavy advice has been doled out. However, with Grayson (and Shelby) planning a summer wedding, Cooper closing out his second year of law school, and Delaney finishing up her sophomore year of college, stress comes creeping in to all of their lives. They all know what I’m going to say before I say it, but I think (hope) they appreciate hearing me say it, just the same. My standard advice for stressful times typically goes something like this:
Hydrate. Make sure you’re drinking enough water every day.
Eat. That means some good protein coupled with fresh vegetables.
Exercise. Ideally work up a sweat and get those endorphins pumping. But even a casual walk will help.
Get Outside. Enjoy some fresh air and try to get a little sun on your face.
Sleep. Cat nap. Power nap. Overnight. Your perspective is always better after a little rest.
My work in college admissions started with helping these three kiddos find and fund their ideal college experiences. I absolutely loved the process, and now I’m helping other students do the same. If you’re interested in learning more about what I do, take a peek at the SCOUT website or give me a call at 405-906-7044!
