SCHOLARSHIP SEASON

Need-based aid is addressed through the FAFSA. Merit aid is usually determined by grades and standardized test scores. And scholarships can focus on anything – from the parent’s employer, to community service or leadership experiences, to hobbies and talents.  There are thousands of scholarships. The strategy is to find ones that cater to your student’s strengths.

In my role as a college admissions consultant, I know the financial piece of college exploration is critical. Focusing on scholarships is a large part of that. Identifying the ideal scholarships and exploring eligibility requirements early in the college admissions process leads to better chances of being a competitive applicant. As with all aspects of the admissions process, no two students are alike. In turn, the scholarship list for each student differs. And my approach to college admissions reflects that. I am definitely here to help your student pursue scholarships tailored to his/her résumé. Defining those scholarships for each student takes time and experience. And that is just one of the reasons I am committed to sharing with you each week through my newsletter. Here you’ll find the latest news from colleges, a resource you may have missed, and a glimpse at what I’m doing at SCOUT to help students find and fund their ideal college experiences. Thanks for joining me!
